New Forum
imho...phpBB sux big time...
If you think that your forum will grow big (very large) in time...the I'd suggest you vBulletin...and if the range is gonna be somewhere in the middle...IPB isn't a bad choice either.
Then ofcz there are choice of Forum sections...but first...
You'll need a 'news & annoucement' section...which can be handy, where you can keep the forum users (also ones who are not into the blog thingy) updated of any news (site changes, new updates, your leave...any emergencies etc...).
Then there's also a 'feedback & suggestions' section...it's needed if you're genuinly care for feedbacks and are willing to edit and change the forums to users taste.
After these two are done...you can start working on the Major forum sections...ex.
- General Chat
- Image Section
...
also 18+ section...a sep section of that is more suitable...as there are going to be users who are young or ones who don't wanna see adult imagery, so a separate section for that is a better option.
(perhaps by adding modification to forum code you can make users hide or show the adult section, or make them add their age and when younger than 18 the adult section won't be shown...there are various option for that).
and how can we forget...DTL-Rules (like FAQ is shown at the top) perhaps you should add a sep link to DTL Rules...(perhaps in diff eye-catching color). We all know...who reads it if not told and stressed upon.
Add mods (moderators) when rules and warning modification is added to forum...before that a mod has no real powers on a forum...
This was it for now...will add more stuff...when they cross my mind.

One of my fave forums (macserialjunkie.com) has used phpBB for quite some time, and they are doing quite well, thank you. 23281 registered users have posted a total of 302131 articles at last count. I think we should be okay for awhile...

My experience has just been negative with phpBB, I've had many security issues which ofcz were solved with all kind of updates, above that all the patches (modifications...) which after all ends up in a code mess and a serious headache lol...
So I switched to IPB...it was good (very user friendly) but there were some issues with coding...which stood in my way to shape the forum in a way that I liked. This was purely personal reason...
Then I tried vBulletin...and untill now, I've had no serious problems.
But am sure that other forums are doing their best to bridge the differnce between themselves.
I just mentioned this because you guys started a new forum from scratch so I thought it's better to make a good choice in the start than try to change somewhere in the middle along the road (like I did). All the moving of threads and stuff...a big pain in the a** if you ask me
Anyways...I'll be a member here no matter what type of forum it is...
