EA, I am not doubting that some aspects of the educational system can be accomplished online. I don't think that anyone doubts that.

However, the communal aspects can't be replicated via chat programs, video conferencing, et al. Its simply not the same. That's why a degree from U. of Phoenix is virtually worthless compared to a degree from Arizona State U. (one of the biggest party schools in the world), not to mention good schools. Everyone knows that getting an "education" online is fraught with problems. Cheating is much, much easier...and that's only one example. Others would include: the community problem (both in and out of the classroom), the responsibility of getting up and going to a locale to learn would be lost, the one-on-one, human interaction with the teacher/professor would be lost, etc.

Are there bad teachers? Sure. Are the educational systems in North America in desperate need of improvement? Sure. Is the internet the answer? No. The answer is weeding out the shitty teachers/professors and properly rewarding the good ones, which would, in turn, attract more competent people to the field.

Nowhere in my post did I say that the internet should do anything that teachers do. Did you not read this line "Is the internet the answer? No."? That question is rhetorical; clearly you didn't read it and understand it fully. I did concede that some aspects of the educational system could be replicated online but I find this possibility highly unsatisfactory for the reasons I listed in the second paragraph of my previous post.

Here's my solution: I think that we should be rid of shitty teachers and pay the good ones well, which will increase the attractiveness of the vocation. Unfortunately, what I want to happen will hurt in the short-term (a lower teacher-to-student ratio, etc), thus meaning that no one would do it, especially not politicians that serve four-six year terms...they have their own asses to look out of after all.

What would've happened if the woman had complications and died on the table? Did the mother give consent, or they just passed the kid the scalpel after she was unconscious? What kind of response did Dr. Dad really expect from his peers at the medical chapter?

WTF is wrong with people? Just the other day outside my work office there were some kids bullying some other kid who was obviously upset and needed a hand. About 10 adults must've walked by and not said a word. It only took me and my boss shouting "Oy!!" from the office window to make them leggit.

It's not on the same scale, but it's gotto start somewhere. I'm curious as to what point in someone's life do they start to realise that someone bleeding on the floor is a "Kodak Moment".

I find it funny sometimes at how spineless people become in an aggressive situation nowadays. Fair enough, in the society we live in most people solve issues with guns and knives rather than words or fists but kids? FFS it's situations like these that result in kids hanging themselves from a tree.

It’s much easier to just walk away and do nothing, and while you’re at it have "something cool" on your phone to impress your girlfriend.
