Well not to jump into a discussion about the Japanese with Asian posters but I can contribute that for a long time it was illegal to show pubic hair in Japan in any art form and that sort of ingrained itself in the popular mindset and spawned the juvenile median body type usually depicted in Hentai.
I would expect that may have some influence on how women trim their baby holes. Though they could be influenced to go either way depending on how they want to interpret what's acceptable.
Bottom line: hair is a masculine thing. We grow it on our faces and in some cases chests, shoulders, backs, and asses. Add to that the female genitals are harder to master than a rodeo bull and hair only complicates things. Not to mention how much easier it is to wash something off your face than it is to wash it out of your hair (trying to get around a certain trait some female's pink parts have) and bald is beautiful. Sure some dismiss it as an age thing and ask "so you want to screw some little girl?" but that argument holds much water round these perverted parts.
So whether or not the Japanese DO have a tradition of shaving their bushes the point is they should.
