I'm with AB on this one.

I think the Ali G movie proved that you can't take a 5 minute skit and turn it into a succesful movie.

Ali G and Borat are good in small doses and in real scenarios, but take them out of their homely context and they'll descend into utter shite.

It's a basic problem that kills me that movie executives fail to realize:

Main characters have to be MULTIDIMENSIONAL, not ONE DIMENSIONAL. Audiences can't relate/sympathize with a caricature. Stuart Smally, Pat, that creepy armpit sniffing girl, Adam Sandler in any movie, Ali G, Borat...
...all one dimensional

They work in 5-10 minute joke skits...not in anything over a half hour.
